ЁЯМХ Happy Karwa Chauth 2025: A Day of Love and Devotion
On Friday, October 10, 2025, married women across India will celebrate Karwa Chauth, a beautiful festival of love and prayer. This day is especially important in North India. Women fast from sunrise to moonrise for the long life and well-being of their husbands
The fast is called nirjala vrat. It means no food and no water all day. Women begin their day before sunrise with a meal called sargi. This meal is lovingly prepared by their mothers-in-law. It includes dry fruits, sweets, and sometimes parathas. After eating sargi, the fast begins.
ЁЯОи Colorful Preparations
Markets are full of red sarees, bangles, and mehndi cones. Women decorate their hands with beautiful mehndi designs. Sweet shops sell special sargi thalis days before the festival. These thalis are decorated with marigold flowers and festive items.
Homes are cleaned and decorated. Diyas (lamps) are lit in the evening. Women wear traditional clothes and gather for the Karwa Chauth puja. The puja is held during the Pradosh Kaal, which is between sunset and moonrise. In 2025, the puja muhurat is from 5:57 PM to 7:11 PM
ЁЯМ╕ The Rituals and Beliefs
During the puja, women sit in circles. They pass their decorated karwas (earthen pots) to each other seven times. This shows unity and sisterhood. They pray to Goddess Parvati, also called Chauth Mata, for blessings. A special mantra is recited to seek happiness and peace in the family.
The most awaited moment is the moonrise. In Delhi, the moon is expected to rise at 8:13 PM . Women go to their balconies or terraces. They look at the moon through a sieve. Then they look at their husbands. This ritual shows eternal love and devotion.
After this, the fast is broken. Husbands offer water and the first bite of food to their wives. It is a touching moment. Many couples now fast together to show mutual respect and love.
ЁЯТС Modern Touch to Tradition
In todayтАЩs times, Karwa Chauth is not just about tradition. It is also about celebrating relationships. Many husbands join their wives in fasting. Some families even hold virtual pujas if they live far apart. The festival has become a symbol of togetherness.
Restaurants offer special dinners after the fast. Social media is filled with pictures of couples celebrating. It is a day of joy, bonding, and blessings.
